Hiking High life in Alpbach Seenland

Hikers just love the thrill of escaping City life and hitting the heights on a hiking tour of the Alps.

And we don’t know anywhere better than Alpbach Seenland – one of the most beautiful areas of the Tirol, and Alpbach village a regular winner of Austria’s prettiest contest.

Now the area is offering three different peak tours with stays at fabulous village inns and friendly and cosy B&Bs. So forget the hassle of that stressful train, bus or Tube to work and swop for exhilarating hiking through scenery you share with the cows and mountain birds and sample the hospitality at the mountain huts over a glass of fresh milk and cake.

For hikers who don’t want to share a dormitory or hut with other backpackers, Alpbachtal Seenland offers tours where you stay at welcoming inns where you can relax in your room before you snuggle down in a comfy bed. So pack your rucksack and discover Alpbachtal Seenland’s long-distance hiking trails.

Family 3 day-tour

This circular walk is ideal for both young and old. It starts in Alpbach and each stage covers walks of three to four hours that allow time to rest and explore places such as the Hösllacke mountain lake, an ideal and idyllic place to pause, and maybe refresh tired feet in the cool waters.
Nights are spent at the traditional mountain hut the Holzalm, situated at 1439m. Next day mountaineers can climb the 1893m Gratlspitz, or families can take the easy-peasy path through woods and meadows leads to the Pinzgerhof and breath-taking valley views. The kids can visit a farm and test their milking skills before the stroll back the Alpbach.

4-day tour

Tours in the Brandenberg Alps offer daily hikes of five to seven hours. Starting at the Sonnwendjochbahn in Kramsach the 4-day hike leads through the Brandenberg mountain valley, and when the sunny plateau is reached you can treat yourself with a delicious speciality cake Brandenberger Prügeltorte. Nights are spent in cosy inns or guesthouses before continuing to the mighty Rofan Range and splendid vistas over the Inn Valley and far North to the Bavarian prealps. Your 4-day hike covers 50 kilometres and 3608 metres altitude difference.

4-day summit tour

Passionate hikers and summiteers will love this tour over 4 demanding stages with some of the most beautiful views in the region. The tour takes hikers on a sensational ridge walk high above the Alpbach Valley to the Standkopf (2241m). Then walk along the Sagtaler Spitzen with grand vistas to the Zillertal Alps and the Hohe Tauern. No fear of heights and surefootedness are basic requirements for this hike, next stage of which is up the 2424m high Großer Galtenberg – Alpbach’s landmark – with 360° view as far as to the Grossglockner, ending in a good night’s rest in the traditional mountain hut. Magnificent tour, unforgettable memories.
