Sainte Foy

Sainte Foy is a rarity in France – idyllically small with traditional architecture and hardly any crowds. Small and beautiful resort on the road to Val d’Isere, ideal for day trips, as Ste Foy is very small in the French way of things, having just 20 miles of marked runs, but heaps of off-piste routes. The village is all-chalet with no hotels yet, but what is there is tasteful, being mainly in traditional mountain village style.

The area is perfect for families, as the beginner slope is just a pole-push away from the chalets and moving carpets for easy transport of infants to the top of the run. Curiously, it is better for experts than intermediates as there are a few steep runs, always packed after a powder dump. And the local ski school offers off-piste tours.

In short – a great place for getting away from it all – and the local restaurants are highly rated by our reporters as well as the chalet cooking.
